With the popularity of "new energy" transportation, the problems of the use of waste dynamic lithium-ion batteries have also triggered more people's thinking. Based on this, Tesla Joint founder JBstraubel has set up a startup called RedwoodMaterials in 2017. After several years of development, the company has grown into North America's largest lithium-ion battery recycling.
RedwoodMaterials aims to supply materials for EV power lithium-ion batteries for industry by more sustainable recycling methods. The latest news is that the company has reached a cooperation with the commercial vehicle manufacturer Proterra to strengthen the battery supply chain of local markets. As early as last summer, Proterra had touched with Redwood, and then signed a cooperation agreement in January this year.
Duringrace, Proterra Chief Technology Officer, who worked in Tesla, said in an interview with foreign media, after visiting the Redwood Factory in the field, they finally set this determination. According to the plan, Proterra will send Redwood's recycling factories in the company's Canceon City. As of now, Proterra has delivered approximately 26,000 pound battery materials, and it is expected to further improve the scale in the future.
It is said that Redwood can undertake 60 tons of battery materials daily, with around 20,000 tons throughout the year.
