New method can predict the life of solar cell module

Solar battery components are exposed to complex environments, and the materials will aging for a long time. Although most solar battery manufacturers ensure the maximum use of the product to customers in 25 years, the general use of the general use is not accurate. Recently, German researchers launched a new set of methods to more accurately predict the use of solar cell components.

The Institute of Material Mechanics, the German Fraunhof Association, published, the ice and snow load, temperature change and wind load will cause mechanical pressure to solar cell modules, so that the material is tightened and stretched, and it will lead to the material fatigue of solar cell modules. In the solar cell module material, the plastic backplane and the battery connecting strip made of fine copper wire are especially fragile, just like constantly returning a paper-shaped needle, it will break at a certain point. In order to clarify the effects of environmental factors on battery components, the researchers measure the impact of battery components by mechanical load.

They install a complete solar cell module, which can measure the contraction and expansion of the battery module material according to the resistance change, thereby calculating the mechanical pressure of the battery module material. The researchers found that even if a breeze is enough to make the battery assembly oscillate, and the higher the temperature of the surrounding environment, the more obvious this oscillation is. In addition, the effect of ultraviolet radiation on material fatigue is also exceeded.

Ultraviolet will make synthetic materials hard, more brittle, and will increase oscillation frequency. Based on the on-site measurement results, the researchers established a 3D simulation system. This digital simulation and analog system can infer the long-term impact of environmental factors on battery components, and what mechanical pressure will occur, and the life of battery components will be predicted.

Researchers say this method of combining this measured and simulation not only predicts the service life of solar cell modules, but also for improving the shape, material, etc. of too capable battery components.
