However, Scientists at Stanford University SLAC laboratory have recently developed a silicon electrode with self-repair capacity, which solves this problem.

It is reported that this invention of researchers is inspired by the latest research of robotic skin. They created a silicon polymer having a weak chemical bond. When the material is broken, they are attracted to each other, thereby achieving recomplete in several hours.

By using this material, the research team achieves 100 discharge cycles, this is a very good result. The team said that this is only a beginning, and their goal is to eventually reach 3,000 discharge cycles, which is implemented on electric cars.
