India plans to build a charging lithium battery recycling factory to develop local battery metal supply chain to reduce external dependence

On September 9, India's state-owned Electronic Technology Material Center (C-MET) plans to establish a facility for recycling lithium-ion batteries as part of the country's development of local battery metal supply chains and reduce the strategy of imports. The recycling facility has developed technology from the scrapped lithium-ion battery in the test scale, and techniques for extracting cobalt, nickel, lithium, copper, aluminum, gold and platinum. The selected partner will be responsible for the use of C-MET technology to stabilize the facilities.

C-MET also wants to establish a smelting facility to process approximately 2 tons / day printed circuit board and recover copper and other metals. The company has caused interest to expand its current furnace capacity from 30 liters to 250 liters. C-MET also plans to cooperate with company to establish a printed circuit board recycling plant nationwide to promote metal recovery.
